Accounting Clerk

Heritage Christian School, a Ministry of Kelowna Christian Center Society, has an opening for an Accounting Clerk.

The role of the Accounting Clerk is to maintain and report information for HCS by creating and distributing information as required.  This involves supporting Heritage Christian School’s mission, objectives and programs by reinforcing an organizational culture to our employees, teachers, and volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accounting Clerk position has duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Process all deposits for Heritage Christian School (HCS), Global Citizenship Program (GCP) and Heritage Christian Early Learning Center (HCELC) with a second counter
  • Accounting procedures that deposits and posting
  • Process weekly payables for HCS, GCP and HCELC
  • Manage and reconcile petty cash and credit cards
  • Maintain key distribution and tracking system
  • Daily balance of front desk petty cash
  • Assist Office Manager with payroll data entry
  • Account maintenance in Rycor
  • Oversee all filing for the finance department
  • Oversee the maintenance, reconciliation and distribution of spreadsheets and budgets
  • Oversee the collection of data for all school audits
  • May support the Office or Business Manager with:
    • Payroll
    • Budget reports

Any other related duties as required.

  • Qualifications
  • Good typing skills, filing experience, telephone systems operations
  • Experience in Microsoft Office capabilities: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Experience in Google docs
  • Must be able to work well with a team and independently
  • Must be flexible, well organized and a strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
  • Able to do repetitive tasks and lift up to 50 lbs


Kelowna Christian Center Society offers:

  • $16.00 per hour – depending on work experience
  • Up to 40 hours per week until August 31, 2018
  • 40 hours per week, after September 1, 2018
  • 3 month probation period
